Horses have long captured the hearts and souls of mankind for centuries. It's no secret why, with their beauty, strength and power comes immense trust and gentleness. Horses can inspire and touch people in ways that traditional therapy methods simply cannot. We are presently developing small group programs that incorporate equine interaction for those of all ages and abilities. Current areas of development within the community include:
At risk youth, veterans, victims of trauma and abuse, children with autism and those battling terminal or longterm illness.
We believe deeply in horses healing humans, but also in humans healing horses. Many of the horses in our programs at Fresh Beginnings were rescued from kill pens, auctions or were donated by their loving owners who could no longer care for them but wanted them to have a loving forever home.
Often these horses come to us from terrible situations with unknown histories and backgrounds. They are usually unhandled or poorly handled in rough physical condition and require a great deal of patience and kind competent training, veterinary treatment, and farrier care. Donations go directly toward the care, training and rehabilitation of the animals as well as the training and education of our staff and volunteers.
